The Cascades of Tucson Senior Living Community renovation transformed nearly 5,000 square feet of underutilized space into an elevated dining destination designed to enhance the resident experience. An existing open-air breezeway connecting the residential tower to the dining facilities was enclosed to create a welcoming transition into the newly named Breezeway Bistro, while the former entry area was reimagined as a vibrant gathering space. The adjacent dining room was fully renovated and rebranded as the Catalina Dining Room, drawing inspiration from the surrounding Tucson landscape through warm natural materials, layered textures, and a refined desert-inspired palette. The Desert Fish Bar located between the Breezeway Bistro and Catalina Dining Room, was thoughtfully incorporated to honor a longtime member of the community, creating a meaningful focal point that reflects the facility's culture and sense of place.
As the Lead Senior Interior Designer and Project Manager, I directed the interior design from concept through construction, leading space planning, finish and material selection, custom lighting design, furniture specification and procurement, and construction administration. I collaborated closely with the ownership team, executive leadership, dining services, maintenance staff, architects, consultants, contractors, and our studio's graphics team to ensure every design decision supported both operational efficiency and an elevated hospitality experience, resulting in a welcoming environment that enriches daily life for residents, staff, and visitors alike.
